About

Belouis Some (real name Neville Keighley) London-born singer-songwriter who first rose to prominence with the release of his debut album, Some People, in 1985 on Parlophone / Capitol Records.

Initially recorded in London and produced in New York by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero, the album featured arrangements and guitar work by Carlos Alomar. Alomar assembled an exceptional lineup of musicians, including Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson (of Chic), Carmine Rojas, Robin Clark, Chester Kamen and Guy Fletcher.

The album spawned the worldwide hit singles Imagination and Some People. The video for Imagination, directed by Storm Thorgerson, generated major attention and controversy for its bold artistic vision and full frontal nudity.

In 1985, Belouis Some was sponsored by Swatch in North America and opened for Frankie Goes to Hollywood on their U.S. tour, while Some People simultaneously ran nationwide as a Swatch television commercial. In 1986, he headlined the “Swatch Live” show at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

That same year, he supported Queen on their “Magic” stadium tour, including opening the legendary Knebworth Festivalconcert — one of the largest ever held in the UK and Freddie Mercury’s final live performance with the band.

Belouis Some’s track Round Round, produced by Bernard Edwards, was featured in John Hughes’ 1986 film Pretty in Pink. The platinum-selling soundtrack remains one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time.”

His second album, Belouis Some (1987), was recorded in New York and produced by Gary Langan and Guy Fletcher, with Carlos Alomar, Carmine Rojas, Chester Kamen and Geoff Dugmore forming the studio band. Singles Let It Be With You and Animal Magic became chart and dance hits in the U.S. and internationally.

Belouis Some headlined his own tours across the USA and Europe in 1988, and in 1989 created and toured the UK with The Big Broadcast.

In 1993, he released his third album, Living Your Life, on BMG. Recorded in London and produced by Geoff Dugmore and Nigel Butler, the album was met with critical acclaim.

After a 30-year hiatus from full live performances, Belouis Some returned to the stage in November 2024, headlining at O2 Academy Islington, followed by a sold-out show at The Troubadour in February 2025. He toured the USA in April 2025 and joined the nationwide Lost 80s Live tour later that summer.

Belouis Some will return to the USA for a further tour in April/May 2026.
